In line with sustainability and environmental awareness, the municipality of Masi Torello has launched an important project aimed at reducing plastic waste, with particular attention to the school community. The initiative was made possible thanks to the participation of the municipal administration in the call for proposals promoted by Atersir.
The main objective of the project is to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles and, to achieve this goal, new mains-fed water dispensers have been installed inside the municipal school buildings (primary and secondary schools of the Alberto Manzi comprehensive institute), and all students have been provided with reusable water bottles.
The dispensers, directly connected to the water supply network, are equipped with advanced filtration and safety technologies. In particular, they feature a composite-structure filter capable of retaining suspended particles down to 0.5 thousandths of a millimetre, thus ensuring clean and safe water. In addition, a UV-C LED bactericidal system placed near the dispensing point prevents bacterial back-contamination, while a cold-light UV-C LED de-bacterizer provides an additional level of protection.
